Behind the piece

Form, meaning
and making.

A closer look at the visual language, cultural context and care of this piece.

The piece

Two Narsingha forms mirror one another in this framed composition, their curves opening toward the centre and their chain details reinforcing the symmetry. A broad red field keeps the focus on the paired silhouettes, while a restrained inner line and ornamented gold-toned outer frame give the piece a formal finish.

Cultural context

Paired Narsingha forms evoke the ceremonial music and processional energy of the western Himalaya. Their mirrored arrangement turns a familiar cultural silhouette into a bold, balanced focal point for the wall.

Craftsmanship

Two textured gold-toned forms are mounted in precise symmetry beneath glazing. A broad field of saturated red creates dramatic contrast, finished by a restrained inner line and an ornamented outer frame.

Care

Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, persistent humidity and heat. Dust the outer frame or cover gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. If the glazed surface needs cleaning, apply a small amount of suitable cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying the piece. Do not use metal polish, abrasives or moisture on the central object or textile without confirmed maker guidance.
