Behind the piece

Form, meaning
and making.

A closer look at the visual language, cultural context and care of this piece.

The piece

A central Dev Mukh anchors this symmetrical arrangement, flanked by two curved Narsingha forms that arc inward across a deep red field. The composition is bordered by a woven geometric textile and finished with layered gold-toned mouldings. Its generous format and strong symmetry give the piece a ceremonial presence while keeping the individual forms clearly legible.

Cultural context

This composition brings together two enduring symbols from Himachali ceremonial life. The central Dev Mukh conveys divine presence, while the paired Narsingha forms recall the music, movement and collective energy of processions in the hills.

Craftsmanship

Three raised gold-toned forms are balanced by hand within a square glazed frame. Fine chain details follow the inner curves of the Narsingha pair, while the woven border and layered mouldings give the arrangement depth and symmetry.

Care

Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, persistent humidity and heat. Dust the outer frame or cover gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. If the glazed surface needs cleaning, apply a small amount of suitable cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying the piece. Do not use metal polish, abrasives or moisture on the central object or textile without confirmed maker guidance.
