Behind the piece

Form, meaning
and making.

A closer look at the visual language, cultural context and care of this piece.

The piece

This vertical display brings together an ornate domed crown, suspended details, layered relief forms and richly coloured textiles. A clear protective cover allows the sculptural silhouette and small surface details to remain visible while giving the arrangement a defined display presence. The red and saffron-toned fabrics provide warmth beneath the aged gold-toned form.

Cultural context

The Dev Rath is one of the most recognisable expressions of Himachali temple culture. It represents movement, gathering and the relationship between a deity and the community. This sculptural display carries that distinctive silhouette into a considered interior setting.

Craftsmanship

A richly worked gold-toned crown rises above layered relief panels, suspended details and ceremonial textiles in red and saffron. The fitted clear cover protects the composition while allowing its sculptural profile and fine surface detail to remain visible.

Care

Display indoors, away from direct sunlight, persistent humidity and heat. Dust the outer frame or cover gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. If the glazed surface needs cleaning, apply a small amount of suitable cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying the piece. Do not use metal polish, abrasives or moisture on the central object or textile without confirmed maker guidance.
